Stephen Lloyd, who spoke at the Planning Meeting against the re-application by Tesco for their proposed Store in Meads said: "I was delighted the application by Tesco was rejected a second time by the Planning Committee. The grounds for refusal were exactly the same as last. The noise nuisance given off by the air-conditioners."

He added: "When I started this whole campaign to stop Tesco coming to Meads four months ago I was told it was too late. We had no chance. Well. We have and we're still in the running. I'd like to thank the many hundreds of residents and local traders who have written to me supporting my campaign. I only hope that Tesco will now see the writing on the wall and withdraw gracefully."
