Protect Hindsland Playing Fields12.00.00am GMT Fri 25th Nov 2005
Willingdon Lib Dem Councillors are fighting to make Wealden District Council designate Hindsland Playing Fields as public open space. Local Lib Dems also want Willingdon to be formally identified as a village. Cllr Andy Watkins explained, "It is scandalous that when so much of Willingdon was built on over the last 40 years the Council did not insist on the developers setting aside a proper amount of recreational space for the residents. We are now a long way short of the public open space residents should have and Hindsland remains the obvious place for that space to be allocated." Cllr Tony Seabrook added, "If steps are not taken to readdress the balance now nothing will ever change. Residents will be staggered to hear, that Willingdon is not even identified in the Wealden Local Plan as a village. I aim to have that corrected even at this late stage."
